THE MYTHRI STORY

Seven years ago, Ram had just moved from Tenali in Andhra Pradesh, India to the Denver area in Colorado in search of better prospects. While most famous for its most famous citizen, the quick-witted Tenali Ramakrishna, a jester in the court of King Krishna Deva Raya, Tenali was also famous for a cuisine that was as spicy as it was tasty. While he left his hometown, Ram could never leave the food behind.

He recalls driving 15 miles back then to find things he would cook with everyday: predominantly Indian groceries. The lack of choice of the spices he wanted along with the lack of modern day conveniences (paying with a card and not cash) urged him to start a grocery store on his own that would satisfy not only his needs but that of thousands of Indian immigrants in the extended Denver-Aurora-Lakewood areas.

Mythri offers a full line of Indian groceries including fresh vegetables, Indian spices, lentils, dry goods, Indian pickles, frozen food, masalas, Indian sweets and much more. In addition, Ram says they never fail to stock up their shelves based on what the Indian calendar requires. Special mithai for Diwali and Rakhis during Rakshabandhan.

The Sanskrit word, Mythri, means Friendship. Ram thinks the hallmark of his store is the trust they have earned through forging friendships beyond a grocery transaction.
