THE MASALA GRILL STORY
Growing up in New Delhi, owner and Chef Sahil Chawla, experienced the best of Indian food. The capital city is an eclectic mix of old and new. Its famous historic Mughal architecture co-exists seamlessly with new spanking high-rises. Old Delhi is reminiscent of the past alongside its modern counterpart, New Delhi.
"And when it comes to food, Delhi is a food haven. From vanguard restaurants that have been serving delectable recipes for decades, to bustling street-food joints ensconced in its famous galis and local markets, to a burgeoning café culture, to serving cuisines of any kind around the clock, Delhi has them all," he says.
And Delhi was the inspiration behind the concept of his Masala Grill. While the restaurant has something for everyone, the newly opened market has everything to recreate these flavors at your home. The pandemic urged Sahil to convert a small dining space into a neighborhood market that carries everyday essentials for desi cooking.
Masala Grill offers a full range of organic dals, spices and flours, along with Indian pickles, frozen food, masalas, Indian sweets, dairy, eggs, and much more. "For the busy families, we have frozen Haldiram parathas which make a quick delicious meal after a long day!" Sahil reminds.
"We highly encourage you to try our Delhi Chaat if they haven't before. Sev puri and samosa chaat are among the popular ones" he says. "And our goat curry with dosa is a meat-lover's favorite!"
