The Bombay Grocers Story
Biren Patel hails from Anand, Gujarat, the Milk Capital of India. Anand heralded the Milk Revolution of India in the 70s turning the country from a milk-deficient nation to the world's leading producer of milk. Not surprisingly, Biren is a lover of milk and milk-based sweets.
Along with his wife, Pratiksha, he now runs the famous Indian grocery store in Cincinnati: Bombay Grocers.
"Dairy farming is now one of India's largest self-sustainable rural employment generator. Anand is also home to large scale farming. My family and those who came before me, were either dairy farmers or ran a grocery store in Gujarat. I would like to think milk runs through my veins!" says Biren.
As a couple running the store, they believe they bring the best to their customers. Biren, the lover of food, has a keen eye to pick out the best quality, while Pratiksha, who regards work as worship, aims at delighting her customers.
They are also as jovial as a couple as they are serious about their grocery store! Biren challenges us when we asked him about why he chooses to be in the grocery business "Do you know of a single human who doesn't eat?"
Bombay Grocers carries everything you need to cook Indian food - from the choicest produce to the best ingredients! And even hot samosas and puffs, if you're in the mood for them!
